Most people probably wouldnโt drive 321 miles and spend 4 hours and 24 minutes on the road just to buy a truck. But when the right truck, the right equipment, and the right deal all come together, sometimes the drive is worth it. Thatโs exactly why I made the trip from Pearland to Bob Utter Ford in Sherman, Texas.
I had already looked at several trucks and talked with dealerships around Houston, but I wasnโt going to spend that kind of money and settle for something that didnโt have the equipment I wanted.
The truck at Bob Utter Ford was a 2026 Ford F-150 XLT SuperCrew 4x4 with the 3.5L EcoBoost, Equipment Group 302A, FX4 Off-Road Package, Tow/Haul Package, integrated trailer-brake controller, 3.55 electronic-locking rear axle, spray-in bedliner, and the other features I was looking for.
It had the right engine, towing setup, off-road protection, appearance, and overall package.
The biggest reason I felt comfortable making the trip was that most of the deal had already been worked out before I left home.
Ms. Kourtnee and the team at Bob Utter Ford handled everything over the phone. I sent them pictures and information on my trade, and they were able to give me a trade value without making me drive all the way to Sherman first.
That made a big difference. I didnโt want to drive more than four hours only to get there and have somebody completely change the numbers or start the whole process over again.
When I arrived at Bob Utter Ford, I was greeted as soon as I walked through the door. Everyone I dealt with was friendly, professional, and easy to work with.
The dealership had a family-oriented feel, and the entire process went smoothly. The sales, finance, parts, and Quick Lane departments all treated me well. There wasnโt a bunch of unnecessary back-and-forth. We handled the paperwork, finished the deal, and got everything taken care of.
One of the best parts of the deal was being able to keep my Nitto Ridge Grapplers. I had recently put them on my old truck and didnโt want to give them up. Bob Utter Ford allowed me to swap the Nittos from my trade onto the new F-150. I paid $200 for the labor, which I was completely fine with.
Honestly, that was the icing on the cake. Starting over with another set of tires would have cost a hell of a lot more than $200.
Absolutely. Driving 321 miles to buy a truck may sound crazy, but dealerships around Houston couldnโt put together the same combination of truck, equipment, trade value, and overall deal. Bob Utter Ford made it possible to handle most of the process before I ever left Pearland, honored the deal when I arrived, and worked with me on the tire swap. I got the F-150 I wanted without settling on the equipment, and the entire experience was worth the drive.
If youโre looking for a Ford and donโt mind traveling for the right deal, I recommend giving Bob Utter Ford and Ms. Kourtnee a call.
Bob Utter Fordโand the 321-mile driveโwere definitely Worth the Check.
Honest Reviews. Smarter Buying.
This is not a sponsored post. It is based on my personal buying experience.

From hitches and recovery gear to tools, filters, and everyday truck accessories, I share real-world reviews to help you decide whatโs actually worth your money.
Straightforward reviews based on gear Iโve used, tested, or researchedโwhat I like and what I donโt.
Hitches, recovery gear, tools, filters, and everyday upgrades for your truck.
The bottom line on whether a product delivers enough quality, usefulness, and value to earn my recommendation.
My F-150 didn't come with factory HomeLink, so I added the Gentex HomeLink module to give the truck the feature while keeping a clean, factory-style appearance.
The system can control up to three devices, including garage doors and compatible gates, without having to keep separate remotes clipped to the visor.
I had mine professionally installed in the headliner, and that's the route I chose because I didn't want to start cutting into the headliner of a brand-new truck myself. Once installed, the module blends in nicely and looks like it belongs there.
If your F-150 didn't come equipped with HomeLink and you want a clean way to add it, this is a simple upgrade that adds some everyday convenience.
Definitely Worth the Check.

One of the simplest upgrades Iโve added to my F-150, but also one of the most useful.
These rear bumper steps mount underneath each side of the rear bumper and give you a solid step for getting into the bed without climbing all over the bumper or dropping the tailgate.
I really like how they turned out because they tuck up tight against the truck, donโt look bulky, and almost look like they could have come from the factory. The before-and-after pictures show just how much they change the back of the truck without going overboard.
If you're constantly getting in and out of the bed of your F-150, these are a simple upgrade that actually serves a purpose.
Definitely Worth the Check.

I added the ROUSH Cold Air Intake to my F-150 3.5L EcoBoost for better airflow, a little more sound, and a clean factory-style look under the hood.
ROUSH says the system provides up to 25% less intake restriction compared with the stock induction system. It also features a washable, reusable dry filter and requires no PCM recalibration or tune.
Installation uses the factory mounting locations with no cutting or major modifications required.
If you're looking for a simple upgrade that looks right at home under the hood, check out my full review and see why I think the ROUSH Cold Air Intake is Worth the Check.

Iโve had this hitch on my truck for about five months, so this review is based on real-world useโnot just specs.
Iโll show you what I like, what I donโt, and how itโs held up over time.
The biggest issue? The red finish has already started fading, and there are a couple of design choices Iโd change.
